On November 27, Professor Lina Hu of Shandong University visited NIMTE and gave an academic report entitled "Competitions between relaxation modes: Their role in determining properties of metallic glasses" at the invitation of Profeesor Junqiang Wang.
The report points out that an abnormal three-step relaxation mode has been observed in the ultraquenched Cu based metallic glass below Tg. This abnormal relaxation mode is thermodynamic evidence, indicating that there is a non monotonic structural evolution in the supercooled liquid phase region of the metallic glass forming liquid, which proves that this is related to the dynamic brittle strength transition. Through the analysis of 98 kinds of materials, Through the analysis of 98 materials, it was found that there is a clear correlation between different types of glassy solids and the ratio r of Eα and Eβ and Poisson's ratio, and the physical principle of this correlation is the inheritance of structural heterogeneity from liquid to glass. In addition, the linear relationship between Tf, c/Tg and liquid brittleness parameter m is obtained in the super quenched metallic glass, which proves the relationship between the two relaxation modes and liquid brittleness in the undercooled metallic glass forming liquid. After the report, Professor Lina Hu and the on-site teachers and students had a warm exchange and discussion on many hot issues.
