On October 29th, invited by Professor Yan Zhang , Shuaishuai Sun from University of Science and Technology of China visited NIMTE and gave a lecture entitled "Magnetorheological materials and their application in high-speed trains".
In the lecture, Shuaishuai Sun introduced the magnetorheological materials, which are widely used in many fields such as automobiles, buildings and bridges because of their good reversibility, fast response and simple control parameters. He took the bogie, one of the core components of high-speed trains, as the research object, and systematically researched the controllable bogie system with key parameters based on magnetorheological technology for the vibration and stability problems of trains under high-speed driving conditions, as well as the different requirements for bogie parameters when driving at high speed on straight roads and passing through curves, and tested it on high-speed trains. The experimental and theoretical analyses have proved that the new bogie system based on magnetorheological technology can improve the high-speed stability, ride comfort and curve passing of the train. In addition, Shuaishuai Sun also introduced the related research work of magneto-hydrodynamic materials in other fields such as negative stiffness magnetorheological damping automotive suspension, micro-vibration control system, new intelligent magnetorheological braking system, and variable stiffness robot leg. After the report, the participants had a lively discussion and interactive exchange on the influence of magneto-rheological fluid magnetization direction, the influence of variable stiffness process on material lifetime, magneto-rheological particles, elastomer hysteresis, surface modification of magnetic particles and other related issues.
