Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) issued the Notice of National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scientists Fund in 2022. Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (CAS), Prof. Juntao Huo, appeared on the list of funding. Prof. Huo will receive RMB 2 million over a period of three years to support his research on “Magnetoelectric properties of amorphous alloys”.
Juntao Huo, Ph.D., is currently a researcher of Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Magnetic Materials and Devices, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is mainly engaged in the research on the basic theory and application technology of amorphous alloy materials. Innovative achievements have been made in the energy state control of amorphous alloys and their influence on the magnetoelectric functional properties: A series of new methods for controlling the energy state of amorphous alloys have been developed by mixing entropy, relaxation and crystallization; The relationship between the energy state and the magnetoelectric functional characteristics of amorphous alloys is clarified; A variety of amorphous alloys and their new composite systems with excellent magnetic properties and electro catalytic properties have been developed, and scientific and technological achievements have been transformed. As of the ending of 2022, more than 80 papers have been published in authoritative journals, such as Acta Materialia, ACS Catalysis, Materials Today Physics; more than 20 invention patents were applied (14 patents were authorized) and 1 monograph in Chinese was prepared. He presided over General Program/Young Scientists Fund/ National Major Instrument Equipment R&D Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural science fund programs of Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City, etc. In 2016, he was selected into the "Spring Bud Talent" Program of Ningbo Institute of Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences; In 2018, he won the "Young Scientist" Award of China Materials Conference; In 2019, he was successively selected into the "Leading and Top Talent" Project of Ningbo City and the Talent Project of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association (CAS); In 2021, he won the support of the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province for Distinguished Young Scholars.
The National Science Fund of China for Excellent Young Scientists is one of the most competitive programs in the NSFC. It focuses on supporting young scholars who have made good achievements in basic research to independently choose research directions for innovative research, aiming to promote the rapid growth of young scientific and technical talents and cultivate a group of outstanding academic backbones who are expected to enter the world's scientific and technological frontier.
